A revival of analog tape sampling

SampleTron 2 combines the powerful sound engine of IK’s award-winning SampleTank 4 with industry-leading tape modeling technology to recreate the signature ultra-vibrating sounds of ’60s and ’70s tape samplers, as well as the quirky early digital sample players and vocoders.

This massive collection combines deep sampling of vintage Mellotron® and Chamberlin tapes with a collection of new tape-processed acoustic “non-Tron” sounds. Users can now upload their own samples and create unique modern Tron sounds.

Authentic Sound and Feel

In addition to its gorgeous sound, SampleTron 2 boasts ease of use. With a great interface that matches the original instruments, it remains simple and intuitive to use. All ten models are beautifully detailed and give users an immersive experience of playing on real vintage equipment.

SampleTron 2 features a massive library of over 400 “tracks” that you can load into any preset —up to three at a time—and then process each track with IK’s advanced tape modeling DSP technology for maximum tone-shaping flexibility.

We already mentioned that the package includes a vast collection of new original samples of vintage Mellotron and Chamberlin. However, the non-Tron acoustic material shines just as much in SampleTron 2. Users will have access to exciting new sounds of choir, strings, brass, organ, piano, bass, and even synths and vocoders.

We’ve added vintage digital sample-based instruments to the collection: the Mattel Optigan, Vako Orchestron, and 360 Systems Digital Keyboard. We want to give users more creative options than any other Tron collection. The collection also includes the entire content of the original SampleTron, a beloved product from IK. It’s time to update the legacy sounds.

Let the Throne be yours

All controls are intuitive, despite the old-fashioned design that seems to contradict innovative technology. As with the original Mellotron, three tracks are available for each preset. Only now users do not have to twitch the track selector to combine them.

Any of the included tracks or user samples can be loaded and used to create new unique combinations, thanks to full control over all elements. The global control panel, together with six tape controls, allows users to get the desired mood. This level of precision and authenticity can only be achieved by IK tape modeling technology.

All the most necessary tools

To customize the sound, check out SampleTron 2’s Edit mode. It allows users to dive deep into preset parameters with controls for volume, pan, fine-tune, transpose , and high and low note range for each track. Additional synth-style controls are available , including a filter with selectable type and an amplitude envelope with speed control for each track individually or for all tracks together. With SampleTron 2, anyone can truly invent their own Tron sound.

Unique effects

SampleTron 2 comes with a suite of effects to give every performance the depth and scope it needs. Among the effects you’ll find a Channel Strip EQ and compressor, Tape Echo, Multimod – with a choice of chorus, ensemble, flanger, phaser, Uni-V and Rotary Speaker – and the new Vintage Plate Reverb, based on the Plate algorithm developed for AmpliTube 5 and MixBox. These are great-sounding effects that take advantage of IK’s expertise in this area, and were chosen as the perfect complement to SampleTron 2.

Wide versatility

SampleTron 2 works as a standalone application or as a plug-in. It can also be used as a library in SampleTank 4* or later. Users can make deeper edits, add additional effects , and play multiple instances of SampleTron 2’s 3-track presets on multiple MIDI channels.
