Equalizer models
Crave EQ offers four high-quality filter models: Analog, Transparent, Digital (zero-latency), and Linear. Here’s what they all do:
Analog
It’s like enabling infinite oversampling in your DAW, only much smarter and more efficient. Enjoy the beauty of analog Butterworth filters without digital side effects like pre-distortion and aliasing. Perfect for those who love the natural sound of analog phase filtering. Low latency (48 samples at any sample rate) and ultra-low CPU requirements.
Transparent
Digital magic combining smooth analog low-pass filtering with linear phase processing of the high frequencies. It delivers a more cohesive sound when mixing, as the high frequencies remain in phase across all tracks. It’s great for maintaining the integrity of the mix while applying correction or creative EQ across all tracks.
Digital
Our zero-latency digital filter model accurately reproduces the waveform down to the Nyquist frequency. To ensure zero latency, the filter adds more color at high frequencies than other models due to the larger phase changes in this region.
Linear
Linear phase filtering increases latency and, if not applied carefully at low frequencies, can cause ringing artifacts. Use this model with a low Q factor and smooth transitions in the mid- and high frequencies for a colorless, corrective EQ.
The diagram below shows the phase response of four filter models in Crave EQ (analog, transparent, digital, and linear) for a peaking filter at 5 kHz. In this example, the transparent phase model has a delay of 5 ms. All have the same amplitude response, differing only in phase.
