XILS-lab – XILS 505 v1.1.1 for WiN

Analog Orchestra string machine. It’s a string machine and also a synthesizer… a bass synthesizer.

We’ve also added a vintage analog chorus machine (as an alternative oscillator source for the synth section) and revealed many of the vintage String Machine’s hidden parameters.

The X-505 offers a stunning 49-note polyphony with all the layering, mixing, and customization capabilities of its illustrious predecessor, one of the most versatile and powerful string machines ever created, including a precious balance between 4-inch and 8-inch string registers, as well as individual settings for all inputs of the four-channel (yes, four) BBD Chorus unit. A luscious analog phaser and natural vintage reverb complete the package.

Briefly about the X-505

• Oscillator: the mother of all sources. One accurately emulated TOD (Top Octave Divider) oscillator without overlaps, providing up to 49 voices of polyphony.
• String section with its own filter, waveform distortion, and AR settings.
• Synth section with a dedicated ADSR, a 24 dB analog filter with envelope modulation and a low-frequency oscillator, various sound sources (switches), and a special Second Touch re-trigger function.
• Human voice section with adjustable formants and balance.
• Bass section with three cumulative waveforms. Each waveform can be filtered in the BASS panel.
• One main LFO for vibrato control. And another LFO, which can be freely assigned in the modulation matrix.
• Several envelope parameters for each section. Global ADSR for the synth section. And another DADSR envelope, which can be freely assigned in the modulation matrix.
• A powerful four-channel BBD Chorus/Ensemble unit. (Each section has its own send level.)
• An analog phaser effect. A natural-sounding vintage reverb. A True Stereo Space effect.
• A 6-node modulation matrix with 14 sources and 24 destinations. Access to a wealth of secret hardware parameters.
• A dedicated Glide section—an advanced polyphonic arpeggiator.
• And finally, all parameters can be controlled via MIDI Cc in your music production software (or in Live).
