Tactile is an ambient VST instrument that lets you interact with sound. As you move your mouse along the grid, each axis controls a separate sound source—one on the X axis, another on the Y axis—transforming a static input signal into rich, shifting textures and immersive soundscapes.

Whether you’re gliding your mouse across field recordings or orchestral parts, every movement reveals a new sonic layer. This isn’t just playback—it’s performance. This tool is designed for ambient musicians, sound designers, and texture explorers.

Your trackpad is a tool

Your trackpad is more than just a controller; it’s an ambient instrument. Every touch becomes a gesture, conveying texture and space, and subtle finger movements are transformed into shifting soundscapes. With every swipe, tap, or click, you create drones, atmospheric effects, and harmonic shifts in real time. It’s an intuitive, expressive, and endlessly dynamic instrument —a new way to perform ambient music directly with your fingers.

Move to DAW or automate

Once you’ve created your sound, Tactile offers two ways to add it to your workspace. You can record audio using the built-in recorder and drag the processed audio directly into your track. This is ideal for capturing textures and snapshots.

Or automate your gestures in real time: every movement you make on the grid is captured as automation data and sent to your DAW as parameter changes. No audio processing required.

Spectral freezing + granulation

Tactile is based on a combination of a dedicated spectral freeze engine and multi-layered granular synthesizers that transform any input audio signal into an ambient surface with which to interact. Spectral freeze isolates a time slice of sound and holds it in place, allowing for detailed exploration of its frequency content.

This frozen layer houses two granular processors that continuously resample each audio source mapped to the X and Y axes, creating smooth, multidimensional textures that respond to mouse movements in real time. This architecture enables tactile sensations to transform static materials into lush interiors, combining spectral detail with temporal motion.
