Crocus Soundware – Liminal Bamboo Winds

Crocus Soundware is pleased to present LIMINAL µ: BAMBOO WINDS, an affordable and compact library of intimately recorded bamboo transverse flute samples – playable using the full version of Kontakt 6.8+. The library’s articulations are aleatoric, long and evolving, with the performer imparting character and movement into each sample. The flutes were mic’d to capture the air moving through the instrument, resulting in a warm and breathful sound.

The audio was recorded using large-diaphragm condenser microphones, placed within centimeters of the instruments. This allowed us to capture hyper-intimate details into the samples. The library is well suited to add unpredictability and creative imperfection. The LIMINAL range is not specifically intended for fast passages or soaring melodies. Instead, you may see the libraries as collections of naturalistic pads – offering humanistic details not found in something derived from a synthetic source.

The user-interface allows articulations to be layered, mixed and reversed. The ‘crossfade gizmo’ allows artful blending of sound layers with intuitive color-coded controls. LFO controls can also be enabled, allowing your DAW’s tempo to dictate the modulation of an individual layer’s volume. This opens the door for tempo-synced swells and unleashes even more creative possibilities for evolving texture. A new Randomize feature has been added, which allows you to instantly generate unique combinations of sample banks, layer and LFO states.
