Loom II is an award-winning modular synthesizer with a Morph Pad that makes it easy to create rich, swirling, and mesmerizing sounds.
Loom II is an award-winning modular additive synthesizer with a shape-shifting Morph Pad that makes it easy to create rich, swirling, and mesmerizing sounds. The original Loom was considered a triumph of its time when it was released. Now Loom II is enhanced with unique and powerful new features that our loyal users have been asking for.
Loom II uses a unique modular approach to additive synthesis—a synthesis technique that combines simple waveforms to create complex sounds. This allows anyone to select and combine 34 editable modules. Create anything: wobbles, organ sounds, ethereal pads, ambient soundscapes, and much more. The programmable Morph Pad brings your Loom II patches to life, switching between user-defined patch variations, adding movement and momentum that constantly shift.
Explore Additive Synthesis
Loom II is a significantly improved version of the original, pushing the boundaries of additive synthesis. Loom II is ideal for users of all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner experimenting with the field or a true expert, the tool will evolve with you.

New for LOOM II
By popular demand, Loom II has been expanded to 8 voices!
The Spectral Noise section lets you use an additional generator to replace or enrich the additive spectrum (created by the sine wave generator) with a noise spectrum. This is a true revolution in the world of additive technologies. Your creativity is the only limit to your possibilities!
- 4 new modules (see the modules section)
- 2 additional subharmonic parts below the normal spectrum
- Expanded Morph Pad capabilities
- 500 brand new patches covering a wide range of sounds created by renowned sound designers Richard Devine and Mark Ovenden
- All 350 original patches have been reworked with new features
- New Wave parameters
- Over 20 other performance improvements
Combine modules
Loom II reproduces up to 512 harmonic components per patch and uses an intuitive modular design for quickly and easily creating complex sounds. Each of the 34 editable modules performs a specific sonic task: octaver, second tone, sliding filter, noise, linear low-pass filter, modulator, and more. The Loom II platform consists of multiple cells, in which up to 10 such modules can interact with each other to create an additive synthesis patch.
Each module contains task-specific parameters for detailed, individual patch customization. For real-time visual feedback, each module includes a spectrum window that clearly shows how the module affects individual harmonics of the sound.
In Loom II, we’ve added four powerful new modules:
- 5-Sines—an easy-to-use module for creating a variety of organ- or sine-style sounds.
Discrete - Summation—similar to Loom 1’s popular Summation, but adds a discrete spectrum, perfect for creating percussive synth instruments.
- Hype—add high and low noise with easy-to-use controls for instant results.
- Double Wave—for more advanced users, use dual waves to create complex synth patterns.
- We’ve also added a dedicated control on the Morph pad.
Make Your Music Move
The Morph Pad in Loom II is a powerful tool that adds dynamics and movement to your patches. Using a compact set of controls, Loom II lets you quickly create up to four sound variations and assign each to a separate quadrant of the Morph Pad. Simply hover, click, and drag anywhere on the Morph Pad to create a morphing path.
As the sound moves across the patch, you’ll hear it morph between the four variations in real time. Morphing can be freeform or synchronized to a specific musical unit—1 bar, 4 bars, etc. Additionally, each segment of the morphing path can be synchronized independently.
In Loom II, we’ve expanded the capabilities of our popular morphing tool by adding the ability to save and restore points/paths separately. We’ve also added a new X-axis mode that lets you use the tool as an envelope, perfect for rhythmic morphing patterns.
This new mode also includes a Snap/Grid function. Additionally, you can now use parameters unrelated to Morph to expand your creative possibilities.
Amazing Sound Design
Loom II comes with a sound library. Renowned sound designers Richard Devine and Mark Ovenden created over 850 professionally customizable patches, including wobbles, pads, basslines, soundscapes, and more. 500 brand-new presets for LOOM II and 350 remastered presets from LOOM I are included.
You can tweak, analyze, and personalize these sounds to make them your own, or dive deeper and create your own additive sounds from scratch. For sonic inspiration, Loom II’s intelligent randomizer instantly generates new parameters or a new combination of modules, so you can start creating sounds right away.
All parameters can be configured for MIDI control. Additional preset packs are available free and can be purchased from third-party partners to expand your creative possibilities.
More than Modules
Each Loom II patch begins with editable Spectral Distortion and Spectral Modulation controls that affect the overall sound. Three LFOs provide tempo-synced modulation sources accessible by any module.
Four velocity-sensitive envelope generators add an additional layer of control that can be modified over time. Octave control, global pitch, glide time, and other patch-specific controls offer additional tools for your custom sound shaping.
Expressive Effects
Built-in effects add extra expressiveness to the additive sounds you create. Using drive or distortion in an additive sound can add aggression or introduce rich harmonic shifts. Modulation effects include chorus and phaser, each of which adds amazing depth and movement to the sound. Loom II also features a reverb effect, which helps the sound fit into the mix or create a spacious sonic environment.
