Heavy duty chainsaw JP-8080 Super 7

The Super 7 oscillator brings the legendary Roland JP-8080 supersaw algorithm to Discovery Pro. This classic trance sound engine consists of seven sawtooth oscillators (one main and six detuned) that create the powerful leads and rich pads that defined an entire era of electronic music.

The Pulse Width knob controls the degree of detuning, from a subtle string tone to complete divergence. Animate your sound with the LFO and Mod Envelope modulation via the standard Pulse Width assignment. Choose a random phase for each note to achieve the authentic sound of the JP-8080, or a repeating phase for a smooth attack.

The Super 7 can still be used with Unison to create ultra-dense sounds that push the boundaries of sonic density. A green LED on the SAW button distinguishes the Super 7 from Parabolic mode (blue LED), and the LCD display displays button assignment reminders for easy operation.

Professional 8x/16x oversampling

Experience unparalleled audio fidelity with our revolutionary 8x oversampling engine and advanced IIR/FIR filter architecture. Discovery Pro 8 outperforms even high-end hardware synthesizers with unprecedented anti-aliasing efficiency, virtually no digital artifacts, and exceptional transient response—all while maintaining perfect synchronization at all sample rates. 16x oversampling is available in the reflection settings for even higher-quality offline rendering.

Percussion mode

Discovery Pro 8 features a full-fledged drum programming mode that transforms the synthesizer into a professional percussion workstation. The updated Percussion 1 bank [64] includes 10 ready-made drum kits with intelligent key mapping to dedicated drum zones covering the C2-B5 range (MIDI notes 36-83) for intuitive beat creation and professional drum programming. White keys play drum sounds, while black keys select zones for editing, providing instant access to modify the parameters of each drum element.

The new Markov Chain arpeggiator mode combines the thrill of randomness and machine learning to create new musical experiences. This mode uses a dynamic probability matrix that adapts as you play, creating evolving, harmonious musical patterns.

Unlike a traditional random arpeggiator, this generator creates sequences in which each note influences the next, adding depth and unpredictability to the sound. It also integrates with the octave range parameter for dynamic vertical movement. This feature is ideal for creating atmospheric soundscapes or melodic inspiration, bringing intelligent unpredictability to your compositions.

Expanded Preset Management in Disk Mode

Easily navigate settings and folders with our newly introduced Disk Mode: This feature allows users to easily browse settings in the Documents > discoDSP > Discovery Pro > Settings > Programs folder. Switch between Bank and Disk modes by simply pressing the BNK letter on the LCD. For added convenience, we’ve integrated new preset file export functionality into the Edit menu.

Updated PADSynth for resynthesis

PADSynth generates stunningly beautiful sounds from WAVE signals and imported waveforms. The program has now been significantly enhanced for even higher-quality sound creation.

By implementing a 4-sample fade-in and fade-out, pops in rendering have been eliminated, resulting in smoother looping of sounds.

Rendering time has been increased from 6 to 24 seconds, allowing for longer and more complex sounds. Additionally, PADsynth files now include ‘loop enabled’ and ‘loop point’ tags in SFZ format, improving compatibility with a wide range of third-party samplers.

These updates improve the usability of PADsynth, simplifying the creation of ensembles, choirs, bells, and many other sounds. Perfectly looped wavetable samples are displayed in SFZ format, providing users with a versatile sound creation tool.

The Best Unison Around

The new unison feature in the Nord Lead 2 has been carefully calibrated for both polyphonic and legato/mono modes, delivering a sound that is as close to the perfection of the original equipment as possible.

Discovery Pro 8 gives you access to all noise cancelling modes available on the Nord Lead 2.

Multi-size graphical interface (Retina-ready)

The Discovery Pro graphics engine supports three window sizes: 1x (400p), 1.5x (600p) and 2x (800p).

No more squinting to see a parameter or find an LED! Naturally, the processor has been significantly optimized for any configuration.

WAVE generator

Easily add new waveforms and wavetables to DWB banks in WAV (16/24-bit), SoundFont 2.04 (SF2), or SFZ formats.

Since this is not virtual analog synthesis, we paid special attention to this process, adding one of the best interpolation algorithms, which allowed us to minimize aliasing and achieve exceptional resampling quality.

Zero Delay Nord Lead 2, Moog®, Oberheim SEM filters and adaptive filter slope

The Discovery Pro features zero-latency, zero-feedback filters modeled after the Nord Lead 2. They sound absolutely stunning.

Moog filters include new 24 dB and 12 dB Ladder models with trapezoid integration and 4-stage tanh nonlinearity for authentic analog sound. Oberheim SEM filters are available in Classic and Raw variants with zero-latency feedback topology, semitone-based frequency scaling, and musical resonance. Combined with the eight previous Discovery filters, you get 16 filter types for maximum sonic flexibility.

Adaptive Filter Slope automatically switches between a 12 dB and 24 dB filter slope depending on the MIDI note zone and playing strength. Low notes have a steeper slope for tighter bass, high notes have a flatter slope to maintain brightness, and when playing hard, the filter slope in the midrange increases. Works with all filter types, including the Nord Lead 2, Moog Ladder, Oberheim SEM, and Phaser with adaptive tap count.
