Evolution Series – World Colors: Guqin

It has an elongated body in the form of a wooden box with figured outlines (length 100-120 cm, width about 20 cm); 13 frets are marked on the deck. The strings are made of silk and have different thicknesses. The range is slightly more than four octaves.

When playing, the performer holds the guqin horizontally, with the narrow end with the string holder on the left and the wide end with the tuning pegs on the right. The strings are pressed against the deck, and the sound is produced by plucking.
