A grand piano of epic proportions, this Steinway D model was recorded octave by octave in a large concert hall using multiple microphones and additional effects to enhance the sound.
Epic Grand was recorded during the same sessions as Spotlight Piano , using the same Steinway D model and an extensive array of microphones. While Spotlight Piano features softer dynamics, Epic Grand emphasizes the upper notes, which are reproduced in octaves. The result is a grand, epic sound reminiscent of Vangelis’ Chariots of Fire, which is often heard on modern blockbuster soundtracks.
The library contains near, mid, and far microphone signals recorded in a large concert hall. Additional sound shaping controls provide composers with many options to add grandeur and expression to their next work.
Interface
- Adjust the EQ to change the brightness of the overall sound
- Apply compression, EQ, and saturation to add weight and energy to the sound
- Control the stereo widening effect: turn clockwise for a larger signal, counterclockwise for a mono signal
- Control the reverb level with the additional settings by clicking on the gear
- Control the mics: near, mid, and far. Mute, solo, or remove the dry layer and individual atmospheric layers. Blend the near and far mics
- Increase the sample start time to reduce latency. Reduce the sample start time for more realism. The higher the latency, the right number to use negative delay (pre-delay) in your DAW’s MIDI settings
- Adjust the instrument volume with the attack input of your MIDI device
