Felt 54 is a felt piano with a deep character. It is not your average bright and harmonically complex piano.
Sampled from a 1975 Yamaha U3 felt upright piano, modified to produce a cleaner sound while retaining its harmonic richness. A 0.8mm felt strip was added between the hammers and strings, and the piano’s midrange tone was simplified by muting two of the three strings per note. The instrument was captured with three microphones, resulting in a very deep stereo image.
The Felt 54 covers a range of 54 notes, the piano’s sweetest range. This library is perfect for ambient and melancholic film scores, as well as lo-fi hip-hop with the Tape module settings cranked up.
