Rob Papen DelSane: a virtual delay with a large set of functions for creative changes in the signal
The plugin can dynamically respond to changes in the signal and create modulation effects
Popular plugin author Rob Papen presented a new development – the virtual delay Rob Papen DelSane. The developer calls the novelty “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde among delays”, positioning it as a flexible tool for creative signal processing.
According to Peypen, DelSane offers more options than other delays. So, for example, the plugin can be used as a creative tool that responds to changes in music and helps to find new sound ideas.
The upper part of the plugin interface offers a set of controls common to most delays. Users can adjust the delay time for the left and right channels, the level of feedback and signal crossing, and the ratio of the source to processed signal. In turn, the Equal Feedback function allows you to adjust the ratio of feedback between the two channels.
In addition to this, the plugin offers high and low pass filters with multiple cutoff options. The Frequency Shift function, according to the developer, “creates alien delays”, while the Distortion control allows you to distort the delayed signal.
The lower part of the interface is reserved for creative tools for dealing with delays. With the Disrupt Sphere-Slider, users can dynamically control the effect and change multiple delay parameters at the same time. The slider can be linked to the tempo of the project, allowing you to create tempo-based effects.
In Lazy Mode DelSane provides access to modulation settings and automation of slider behavior. The mode also creates modulation effects – chorus or flanger.
The virtual delay is able to dynamically react to the incoming signal, which, according to Peypen, opens up a lot of room for experimentation. The developer notes that any of the plug-in parameters can be controlled via MIDI, which allows DelSane to be used on stage.
