SPEKTR3 Presets for HammerMk2

As part of the SPEKTR3 PRO-EQ mastering studios, Kush Audio Hammer Mk2 probably acts as one of the “color equalizer” modules – that is, it is used to add character, brightness and smoothness to the mastering or final mix, with an emphasis on musical texture.

What exactly does it do inside SPEKTR3

In mastering studios, the SPEKTR3 PRO-EQ Hammer Mk2 performs the following functions:

Smooth, musical equalizer

It is used to add or boost frequencies without creating harshness or digital distortion. Ideal for adding brightness to high frequencies (e.g. 10-15kHz) and richness to low frequencies (e.g. 50-100Hz), even to pre-mixed material.

Finish with analog warmth

The Hammer Mk2 algorithm models tube circuits, delivering a rich, open sound that’s perfect for finishing a track with an elegant analogue edge.

Powerful tonal shelves

Shelves commonly used in SPEKTR3 rackmounts:

  • Low Shelf: Smooths out or boosts bass for added musicality.
  • High shelf: adds air and openness to the sound.
  • When combined, these shelves create the width and presence typical of analog mastering.
Color Equalizer

In a rackmount system, it doesn’t replace surgical EQs like the FabFilter Pro-Q3 or DMG Equilibrium, but rather complements them with a musical, textural approach.

It serves as the final stage of tonal refinement after more technical adjustments.
