Strezov Sampling – Velvet Grand

It’s only natural that the Steinway B, one of the most recorded grand pianos in history, should serve as the basis for the largest piano library we’ve ever created. Its expressive, rich and realistic character, combined with the depth of sampling we’ve allowed ourselves this time, directly translates into versatility. Velvet Grand was recorded in Sofia Session Studio A with multiple microphones which later we summed up to 5 microphone positions – Close, Tube, Ribbon, Decca, Hall. The different combinations of those microphones can really change the character and sound of the piano, especially the different combinations between the Close, Tube and Ribbon mics, all of which were within close distance to the actual grand piano. In order to achieve a high level of detail, we’ve sampled the piano in 7 dynamics, all of them with 5 round robins. The same way we have also sampled the sound of the sustain pedal.
