Omnisphere Ferox is a collection of 300 patches for Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2.
Inspired by the cinematic works of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, Ferox is an eclectic mix of analog, hybrid acoustics, dark and distorted textures, rhythms, sequences, and atmospheres. A brooding, eerie, dark, noisy, and teeming soundtrack designed to unsettle you.
The dark and mysterious contemporary tones of their soundtracks for films like “Gone Girl” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” inspired the creation of Omnisphere Ferox. Jóhann Jóhannsson’s scores for films like “Sicario,” “Prisoners,” and the Icelandic television series “Trapped” also possess brooding overtones and a textured acoustic aura. Works by Dave Porter (Breaking Bad, “Better Call Saul”), Ben Frost (Fortitude), and Clarke’s “Lost Panthers” can also be found in the darkest corners of Ferox.
Omnisphere Ferox is full of lo-fi drumloops, ghostly hammers, crumbling analog synth riffs, drifting modular leads, haunted pianos, warm synth pads, damaged acoustic basslines, gritty basslines, unsettling atmospheres, broken strings, strange synth noises, broken retro machines, melancholic soundscapes, and curious hybrid instruments.
With 300 patches, Ferox offers immense sonic flexibility and a wide range of musical applications. This soundset is perfect not only for the Reznor/Ross sound, but also for horror, ambient, and even folk music, thanks to its subtle hints of Northern and Western sounds. Use pure analog synth sounds, or enhance them with hybrid acoustic elements; or mix them together.
As always, this release features complex and useful modwheel programming, adding extra life and dynamism to the sounds.
