VI Labs Audio – Modern D

Modern D is a flawless imitation of the world’s most famous concert grand piano. Sampled from the 2021 New York Steinway Model D , chosen for its exquisite tone and incredible power, this is our most ambitious and largest piano sample library ever.

The library contains 34,615 samples in five stereo microphone setups, controlled from a simple and pleasant interface. Our new Natural Response method recreates the full dynamic range of each key in each microphone, so that every touch generates an authentic and accurate response of a real grand piano. The dynamic range of many notes exceeds 50 dB, and the sustain can last up to two minutes. This is the perfect studio simulation of a concert grand piano, right at your fingertips.

As always at VI Labs Audio, 100% of the sound is real piano samples, nothing is synthesized or faked. Legendary microphones like the Neumann M49 and DPA 4006 were deliberately chosen to capture everything, including 2500 release samples per microphone, multi-layered sympathetic resonances, a fully sampled left pedal with its own release samples, muted articulations, half-pedaling, soft articulations, and pedal and key noises. With a huge range of timbres and volumes, this grand piano can do it all. Whether it sounds bright, soft, or somewhere in between, it all depends on how you play it. From the softest, most detailed pianissimos to the most aggressive, growling fortissimos, the Modern D is everything you need.

Installation

1. The soundbank file with the .UFS extension can be located in any directory
2. Each soundbank has its own key with the .R2RUVI extension . It must be copied to the %ProgramData%\UVI\R2R\ directory
3. After opening Falcon, press Ctrl+P , in the menu that appears, go to the SoundBanks tab
4. Click the button with an ellipsis next to the line Click … to add a new Soundbank folder location and specify the path to the file(s) with the .UFS extension
5. Close the menu and restart Falcon. In the file browser, located on the right side of the interface, the installed soundbank(s) will appearin the Soundbanks menu
