Amplifiers and effects plugin
Helix® Native provides the power of award-winning HX® modeling technology as a plug-in. Like the hardware members of the Helix family of guitar processors – the Helix Floor, Helix Rack and Helix LT – it reproduces the authentic sounds of vintage and modern amps, cabinets, mics and effects. But this plugin’s repertoire isn’t exactly retro. Helix Native is an open source sound design tool that will inspire film/TV series/game composers, producers and engineers, electronic musicians and anyone looking for exciting new sounds. Preset compatibility across the Helix family makes it easy to transfer your studio creations to and from your Helix hardware device, and Helix Native also loads third-party impulse responses (IRs).
Helix/HX 3.60 Changelog (released April 25, 2023) includes 3 new amps, 9 new cabs, 2 new effects, additional improvements and bug fixes and is highly recommended to all users.
Peculiarities
↬ AUTHENTIC TONE :
Feels and sounds like analog equipment.
When it comes to authentic sound and feel, the Helix Floor and Helix Rack guitar processors represent a giant leap forward in modeling technology. The Dual-DSPs provide tremendous power to faithfully reproduce the sonic characteristics and full dynamic response of classic and modern amps and effects.
↬ HX HYBRID CABINETS :
A new approach to modeling acoustic cabinets.
The Helix HX Hybrid cabs represent a new approach to the speaker cabinet capture process. They provide the same resolution and low accuracy as a 2048-point or higher impulse response, while using about the same DSP power as a 1024-point IR. A choice of 16 different microphones and 23 recording distances provides additional sonic flexibility and real-time dynamic control. The Helix Floor and Helix Rack processors also allow you to download custom impulse responses, allowing you to further personalize your setup.
↬ SHOOTING EACH AMPLIFIER COMPONENT :
Models that react like the real thing.
With Helix processors, every stage of the amplifier circuitry has been measured and matched to the original so that each model responds and interacts with the turntable as expected. This level of detail in dynamic circuitry extends to areas such as power supply ripple, individual lamp deflection, and control of B+ voltages.
↬ CAPTURE SPECIFIC EFFECTS COMPONENTS :
Effect models with unprecedented fidelity.
HX Modeling faithfully recreates the behavior of even the most idiosyncratic vintage effects by modeling their individual components. The Transtronic process emulates the behavior of virtually any germanium or silicon transistor diode, allowing you to faithfully recreate fuzz, distortion, and other pedals that were once considered too fastidious for convincing simulation. Throbber is a “virtual light bulb” that mimics the apparently non-linear behavior of a small incandescent bulb and four photocells inside the original 1960s Uni-Vibe pedals that are essential to their unique sound and vibration. And the Bucketier chip and Panda circuitry are virtual recreations of the Bucket Brigade (BBD) circuitry and compander (compression/expansion) circuitry used in many old-school analog delay pedals.
Hi! this is a great thing you’re doing; I love your site.
