8Dio – Misfit Banjo

Welcome to Misfit : an unusual collection of 18 deeply sampled instruments.

After we removed the best equipment, the most modern studios, the most expensive instruments and even the best musicians, only the soul remained. This is exactly what we wanted to study: a human, urban and unique product.

Misfit Banjo is a stunning (3600 samples), accurate replica of a real banjo. We recorded it with two mic positions (close and distant/room) so you can play in the right perspective. We also recorded real gelato and glissando transitions. Plus, we added intelligent strumming recognition, so if you play more than one note, additional effects and noises will be added.

The banjo is one of the hallmarks of true American folk. When played by a professional in the best studios in the world, it sounds great! But when played by a simple guy like you or me, sitting in front of his trailer on a sunny day, chewing tobacco, it sounds special: it has soul.

Our idea was to go back to the roots of modern music, adding a rough and tumble touch with an authentic folk flavour.
