With its granular, formant, and robotic vocoder engines, Pitch Monster goes far beyond simple pitch bending. Real-time MIDI control, low latency, and 8-voice polyphony allow it to be used as an instrument. Pitch bending, tempo bending, and randomization transform ordinary sounds into fantastical ones, while extreme formant bending can not only change the gender of a voice but transform it into the voice of an entirely different creature!

Chord Mode

In Chord Mode, you can select up to eight notes from the on-screen keyboard to form a chord. This mode can be used to harmonize a sound or add higher or lower frequencies. Eight chord slots let you save and recall chords for live performance.

Create chords for your track in MIDI Learn mode or copy and paste chords between slots and edit them. You can even copy chords to other plugin instances.

MIDI Mode

In addition to the standard mode with a wheel for pitch shifting, Pitch Monster can operate in MIDI or chord mode. Connect MIDI to Pitch Monster and control the pitch shifting using a DAW or MIDI keyboard. Support for notes, glissandos, and pitch bends in MIDI lets you quickly achieve musical results by layering new melodies and harmonies on top of existing material. In MIDI mode, sound is played only when you press a key.

Formant Mode

Formant mode is designed for processing vocals, but is also suitable for other clean monophonic sounds.

If we imagine the voice as a series of impulses originating from the vocal cords and passing through resonators in the neck and head, then this mode allows for independent adjustment of the impulse rate and the size of the neck and head.

Unison, Quaver, and Spread

Pitch Monster can create 8 unison voices (or 64 voices in MIDI or chord mode) and distribute them by time, pitch, or both. Use these controls to create wide, rich, or diffuse textures.
