Modern Brain, Vintage Heart
There are a lot of delay plugins out there, so why try something new? The thing is, most delays simply reproduce the past, while Continuum feels it. It conveys the raw, soulful atmosphere of three legendary hardware devices. But Continuum goes further. It combines a vintage “heart” with a high-tech modern “brain” with two engines. Continuum is more than just an echo processor. This interactive platform seamlessly transitions from a single, sharp delay repeat to a lush, cascading reverb. It’s designed for those who want their echoes to not just fill the space, but also convey emotion, movement, and life.
Two delay modules for maximum freedom
Why settle for just one option?
- Continuum features two identical, independent delay modules.
- Each can switch between three different hardware modes.
- Instead of sterile digital timing, these modules reproduce the real physical imperfections and warmth of historical hardware.
- This allows for completely different delay configurations to be used simultaneously.
Three legendary vintage characters
Switching between models is instant, allowing you to audition various analog effects on the fly and select the one that’s perfect for your mix. The MOJO parameter doesn’t just enhance the effect; it actively emphasizes the inherent physical characteristics unique to each modeled circuit.
Tape
Pushing Mojo turns a virtual TAPE into a source of warm analog distortion, adding realistic wah-wah and flutter effects, as well as tape noise.
Mojo simulates a clock rate drop. Repeats become dark, surprisingly noisy, and degrade beautifully.
DIGITAL reduces the sample rate and bit depth to the point where bits start to distort using vintage filters.
FEED Section: Crossfeeding into Reverb
At the heart of Continuum is the central CROSS FEED network. When activated, it routes the output of Delay 1 to the input of Delay 2, and vice versa, allowing them to interact and complement each other. Using the DIFFUSE control, you insert special all-pass filters into the feedback loop. This smooths out the harsh edges of your delays, instantly transforming a staccato echo into a rich, full-bodied, reverb-like space. Add a touch of MOD to dynamically round out the tail, and use DAMP to shape the highs and lows as the reverb slowly decays.
Continuum’s expanded stereo panning
reimagines the movement of delays across the stereo field with an advanced panning control. Instead of simply balancing between left and right channels, the panning control can engage twelve unique spatial modes.
Position repeats in a traditional manner, balance them between the center and side channels, create a subtle offset between left and right channels for a powerful Haas psychoacoustic effect, or choose from several “ping-pong” styles for dynamic channel alternation.
To simulate movement, the plugin offers advanced features such as Orbit, which rotates repeats in a three-dimensional circle around the listener. Dynamic modes such as Converge, Diverge, Fade In, and Fade Out also exist, physically decreasing, increasing, or changing the stereo width of each subsequent echo over time.
Rhythm and Groove
- Ditch static, robotic grids.
- The Feel section brings a human groove and rhythmic complexity to echoes.
- Use the Shuffle setting to add classic, organic swing.
- You can also vary the volume of repeats using Odd and Even modes to emphasize specific beats.
- Special Groove settings allow you to create complex, syncopated volume variations.
- Finally, Early and Late modes shift repeats slightly forward or backward relative to the grid.
- This gives your tracks either an energetic, driving character or a relaxed, lazy one.
Organic Time Modulation
- Add organic dynamics to your delay time effortlessly.
- The Mod section adjusts the depth of pitch and time modulation.
- Choose from three different LFO styles, each available in three speed modes—slow, medium, and fast—to perfectly match your track.
- Sine mode provides classic, smooth vibrato.
- Drift mode simulates realistic analog deviations that reproduce the organic instability of real hardware.
- Rand mode uses smooth, truly random modulation to create unpredictable, shifting textures.
- It constantly changes the pitch, maintaining life, development, and the beautiful instability of delay tails.
Versatile Multi-Position Filters
Each delay unit features dedicated high-pass (HP) and low-pass (LP) filters, which can be set to three different positions. Set them to the PRE position to shape the incoming signal before it enters the delay unit, preserving the fullness of the feedback loop.
Set them to the FEED position to place them inside the feedback loop, making each subsequent repeat sound progressively more subdued or subtle. Or select POST to filter the final result, eliminating unwanted low-frequency vibrations or high-frequency interference generated by the Mojo engine.
Instant inspiration thanks to intelligent randomization
Creative block happens to everyone, but Continuum is always ready to help when you’re feeling uninspired. Pressing the dedicated RAND button instantly generates a completely new, intelligently balanced combination of delay parameters, spatial modes, and modulation depth. This isn’t just noise—it’s an idea generator that delivers inspiring, unexpected sonic starting points at the touch of a button.
Expanded Input and Output Controls
- Continuum’s input and output controls are designed for creative control.
- The input control has a clear center position.
- Turn it left to “drain” the delay, blocking any new sound while still allowing active feedback repeats to sound beautiful, or turn it right to route the signal to the preamp for analog-style richness.
- Use the output control to fine-tune the signal’s volume without disturbing the feedback loop’s gain structure.
- Finally, maintain complete control with automatic “diving” to eliminate latency on dry transients and a link function for easily balancing dry and wet processes with a single knob.
