Toontrack – Modern Pop Piano EKX v1.0.0

Built around a carefully sampled vintage piano, but with extensive layers of synthesizers and resampled sounds, processed with granular and time-stretching effects, external processors, and more, this expansion for EZkeys 2 is the perfect blend of old-world charm and cutting-edge sound design. If you’re looking to enhance your EZkeys 2 with an expansion that’s as timeless in sound as it is limitless in possibilities, this is the one for you.

The main instrument in this EKX is a classic Grotrian-Steinweg piano dating back to the mid-1950s. Recorded using a variety of microphones at the renowned Riksmixingsverket studio in Stockholm, Sweden, by sound engineer Linn Fijall, it possesses a stunningly natural timbre.

While the basic piano sound can be achieved using a variety of presets, the core concept of EKX was to create a palette of layered and complex tones, with the piano serving as the overall foundation. To achieve this, the original recordings were copied and resampled using a variety of analog and digital outboard processors, including compressors, equalizers, saturators, tape emulators, and more.

Additionally, various analog synthesizers were recorded separately. All of these original sound sources were then interwoven and seamlessly blended into a collection of 80 individually created presets.

In addition to the sounds and presets, a basic MIDI collection is included, unique to this product and tailored to the instrument.

Whether you’re working on an ambient sound design concept, an EDM hit, or virtually any aspect of popular music, from subtle auteur style to experimental electronic acoustics, this extension has the sounds you need. If you’re open-minded and aren’t afraid to let sound define your compositional style, give this EKX a try—you won’t regret it.
