apulSoft apShaper is a plugin for adding harmonic distortion to audio signals. It combines a waveformer with three filter bands and various modulation options: two low-frequency oscillators, two dynamics detectors (with sidechain capability), and user-configurable controls.

apShaper can simulate various types of distortion, including tape and tube saturation, wave convolution, and analog bit compression.

Three filter bands provide high-quality filtering without high-frequency compression. A variable-slope low-pass filter provides a smooth slope impossible with traditional filtering. It’s ideal for smoothly processing signals with high distortion. Several tone control filter types, modeled after classic circuits, allow you to shape classic low/mid/high frequency tones.

apShaper’s artifact-free distortion

uses sophisticated algorithms to address a serious problem associated with digital distortion—unwanted non-harmonic noise. It performs analog waveform processing using integration. Distortion is applied to a continuous audio signal. This reduces digital artifacts to a greater extent than traditional resampling, especially when the transfer curve is not smooth (hard limiting/waveforming/bit compression).
