Cytomic – The Glue v1.7.7 for Windows

Free Download Cytomic The Glue Compressor for Windows. The Glue is an analog simulated compressor based on the classic 80s British compressor for large consoles with some handy extra features. Compressor action is smooth and transparent because it uses the same high-quality algorithms found in circuit simulators, but optimized for fast operation.

In addition to the usual compressor controls, it has Mix/Range/Sidechain High Pass knobs, support for external Sidechain, Peak Clip, and Advanced Oversampling.

Powerful resampling

An inevitable result of computer signal processing is aliasing. The Glue allows you to reduce aliasing by any amount using high-quality oversampling filters. There are separate settings for real-time and offline rendering. Recommended settings are x2 for real-time and x8 for offline rendering, but you can change these depending on the material and compression strength. Roughly speaking, if you are compressing “faint” signals such as bass guitars, you won’t need oversampling.

Classic VCA compressor with feedback

The Glue is an analog compressor plugin based on the classic British big console stereo bus compressor from the 80s. When used carefully on the main bus it provides a superbly smooth and transparent compression that will never go out of style. When used heavily, the drum bus produces the classic “crack” of the attack portion of the drums, adding punch while controlling levels.

Diode envelope follower

The basis for The Glue’s smooth behavior is an analog-modeled dual-diode envelope follower, which is solved using optimized nodal analysis. This produces the same results as using circuit simulation packages such as SPICE but with less CPU overhead. Diodes are used as a way to smoothly switch between “don’t attack” and “attack” modes depending on the input signal level of the diodes. This means that very small input signals only result in a slow attack time, and it is only until a large signal appears that the diodes conduct fully and you get the final attack time.

Highpass sidechain and mix

If you want to reduce compression pumping due to loud low-frequency components, you can use the built-in soft -6 dB/oct high-pass filter to filter the detected signal and de-emphasize the low frequencies. Another way to reduce the audible effects of compression is to use the Mix knob, which smoothly attenuates the unprocessed input signal with the compressed signal in a phase-accurate manner. As with the level control, the units on the Mix knob are displayed in decibels.

Range

A new addition to the original design is the Range knob, which controls the maximum dynamic swing as compression changes. The sidechain section of the circuit can easily become saturated with high-power input signals when the signal is clipped near the compressor supply rails. The main results result in increased attack time because the top of the detected input signal (rather than the main signal path!) is cut off, so the detector tracks a smaller signal.

When fully installed, this control retains the behavior of the purest analog circuit, but the range can be reduced slightly to emulate older devices or significantly for new creative control. The result is a useful alternative to parallel compression using the Mix knob.
