Introducing the GF240 Gold Foil Reverb from Iconic Instruments, a faithful five-chamber version of the deep and mesmerizing EMT 240 Gold Foil Reverb, first introduced in 1971. Following the success of the renowned 140 Steel Foil Reverb, German manufacturer EMT released the 240 Gold Foil, which featured a much smaller form factor and a unique, inimitable sound.
Like its real-world counterpart, the Iconic Instruments GF240 is a follow-up to Iconic Instruments’ SP140 Steel Foil Reverb (modeled after the original EMT 140), and both plugins share the same layout and feature set.
Powered by the Gorilla Engine and co-developed with Numerical Sound, the GF240 features classic features like pre-delay control, send width, a filter section with high- and low-pass filters and a custom node, tail length adjustment from 6 seconds to just 20ms (much shorter than an analog unit), and a mix control with a handy Solo switch for previewing just the reverb.
But like the SP140, the GF240 also boasts some new features compared to the original, such as a 5-position density control that ranges from a rich, plate-like sound to a subtle, transparent blur without sacrificing the fullness of the reverb.
Additionally, the Drive function delivers classic ’70s-style distortion that can be applied pre- or post-reverb, while the High Pass Drive controls allow you to precisely position the distortion where you want it in the frequency spectrum.
Finally, choose from a list of twenty carefully crafted templates that range from classical references to modern and even abstract examples.
