Martinic Retro Pack 2 is a premium collection of virtual instruments and effects created by Dutch developers Martinic to recreate the authentic, live analog sound of the 1960s and 1970s. The pack is aimed at producers, sound engineers, and musicians looking to move away from sterile digital sound and add the warmth, texture, and character of classic analog hardware to their tracks.

Sound Philosophy: ACE Technology

Unlike most modern developers who use sampling (recording the sounds of real instruments), Martinic uses its own advanced physical modeling technology—ACE (Advanced Circuit Emulation).

The company’s engineers digitally recreate the electrical circuitry of original devices down to the last resistor, capacitor, and tube. This allows plugins to behave exactly like real vintage hardware: dynamically respond to signal level changes, replicating the natural imperfections of components, power supply instability, phase shifts, and unique saturation.

VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS

Martinic Pianet T

An emulation of the iconic Hohner Pianet T electromechanical piano, produced in the 1970s.

Features of the original: The original instrument used metal reeds and special silicone pads coated with viscous silicone oil (a technology originally developed by NASA). When a key was pressed, the pad would catch the reed, pull it back, and then release it, causing it to vibrate, and electromagnetic pickups would transmit this signal.

Sound Character: Soft, deep, intimate, and velvety. It lacks the aggressive attack of a Rhodes, but has a unique “lazy” and round timbre that perfectly fits the foundation of lo-fi, neo-soul, ambient, and indie music.

Plugin Advantages: Does not require gigabytes of samples, loads instantly. Additionally, it is equipped with built-in effects (chorus, delay, reverb) and allows you to flexibly adjust the wear of parts, key noise and mechanical behavior of the instrument.

Martinic Elka Panther

A detailed virtual replica of the famed Italian transistor combo organ, the Elka Panther 300 (also known as the Capri), which defined the sound of 1960s psychedelic rock and pop.

Features of the original: The instrument was renowned for its flexible filtering and register blending system (Flute, Strings, Oboe, Trumpet). It allowed for the simultaneous use of different tone types to create a dense, cutting-edge sound. The instrument also featured a separate bass section (Black Keys).

Sound Character: Bold, vintage, slightly dirty, piercing, and incredibly charismatic. Perfect for garage rock, synthpop, retro wave, and cinematic music.

Plugin benefits: Includes an emulation of the original analog Tone Decay effect, a built-in Leslie speaker, and an extended settings panel (under the hood) where you can adjust the tuning of each individual oscillator, the circuit noise level, and switch between Panther 100 and 300 versions.

Martinic Kee Bass

A virtual analogue of one of the first portable bass synthesizers, the Rheem Kee Bass, a monophonic instrument from the late 1960s, originally designed for keyboardists replacing bass guitarists.

Features of the original: The instrument’s electronic circuit was built entirely on solid-state transistors and controlled by simple sliders for changing the waveform and filtering.

Sound character: Thick, tight, focused, and rounded analog bass. It doesn’t pretend to be a modern sub-bass, but produces a clean, punchy lower midrange characteristic of early electronica, retro rock, and synthpop.

Plugin advantages: The developers expanded the capabilities of the original hardware. The plugin added a full range of filter adjustment (LFO), envelope control (A/D/S/R), a mono/polyphonic switch, and precise pitch calibration.

Martinic Colorsound Tremolo

This emulation of the legendary British Colorsound tremolo pedal, created by Macaris in the 1970s, is based on the original.

Features of the original: The pedal was renowned for its remarkably musical oscillator waveform, which didn’t simply chop the volume, but softly and smoothly modulated it.

Sound Character: A hypnotic, pulsating, organic “breathing” effect. The pedal adds vintage movement to the track while maintaining the frequency balance of the original signal.

Plugin Advantages: Unlike the original, this plugin can synchronize the tremolo tempo with your DAW (Host Sync), supports stereo mode with the ability to shift the phase of the left and right channels (Stereo Panning), and allows you to adjust the saturation of the input stage.

Martinic Lem Echo Music

An authentic recreation of the vintage Italian tape delay Lem Echo Music, which used endless magnetic tape.

Features of the original: The delay effect was achieved by physically passing the magnetic tape through three recording and reading heads located at different distances.

Sound Character: A warm, decaying, rich delay with characteristic analog wow and flutter, subtle chorus, and a gradual loss of high frequencies with each subsequent repeat (an aging tape effect).

Plugin Advantages: It models not only the tape itself but also the device’s tube preamp, allowing it to be used as a first-class saturator. Supports separate control of the three delay heads, syncing to the project tempo, and fine-tuning the mechanical noise of the tape mechanism.

Martinic Scanner Vibrato

A modulation effect that accurately replicates the electromechanical Scanner-Vibrato unit, which was an integral part of famous tonewheel organs (such as the Hammond B3).

Features of the original: Instead of electronic delay circuits, the original used a physical multi-stage delay line and a rotating mechanical scanner (rotor), which quickly read the signal from different parts of it.

Sound character: A unique spatial effect balancing between deep vibrato and vintage, slightly “dirty” chorus. This sound cannot be reproduced by standard digital plugins with LFOs.

Plugin advantages: Allows you to apply this legendary organ effect to absolutely any sound source – electric guitars, synthesizers, vocals, or even drum loops. Features stereo width adjustments, adjustable scanner rotation speed, and a choice between original (vintage) and modern (clean) modes.
