Dive into the experimental soundscapes of Low Roar – the groundbreaking musical collaboration between Andrew Scheps, Mike Lindsay and the late American songwriter Ryan Karazija. In this new episode, Andrew deconstructs one of the band’s critically acclaimed tracks and offers an in-depth look at his latest production and mixing techniques.
Andrew provides a comprehensive overview of his advanced Pro Tools template. He dissects his collection of parallel processing chains and demonstrates how they enhance the track’s dynamics and musicality. He also reveals alternative methods of creating depth using multi-mono reverbs and phase modulation effects, inspired by his close friend and contemporary Tchad Blake.
In addition to his engineering expertise, the Grammy Award winner also discusses his creative input on the track. The creative process, which was carried out remotely with the band members scattered around the world, seamlessly intertwined recording, mixing and post-production. Andrew shares his approach to editing and sound design in the absence of a network, as well as his arrangements for horns and strings that transport the track into a new sonic landscape.
