[Mix With The Masters] Inside The Track #86 – Peter Gabriel “The Court”

Follow a free-spirited engineer as he embarks on one of his biggest mix deconstructions to date . Chad Blake joins us from Rue Boyer Studios to review his work on Peter Gabriel’s new single “The Court”.

With over 150 tracks, the session is a whirlwind of rumbling drums, eclectic percussion and acrobatic orchestral figures. Chad enters the epicenter of this storm and demonstrates how he has tamed a complex arrangement and weaved the elements together to create a deeply immersive mix.

In the eleven part series, Chad goes through every step of the mixing process from project management to final preparation for mastering. You’ll hear him push the mix to perfection using his favorite EQ and saturation tools. It even takes it one step further and reveals the logic behind each plugin and automation points, allowing you to fully understand its creative process from the ground up.

As Chad comes to the end of the session, he briefly reflects on his practice and his role as an employee in the studio. He expresses his gratitude to all the talented performers who allow him to create innovative works that constantly go beyond regardless of style or genre.
