XILS-lab – XILS 4 v1.6.3 for WiN

XILS 4: the ultimate analog matrix modular synthesizer. XILS 4 emulates a prototype that was never released—EMS VCS4, based on two integrated, interconnected, and interacting VCS 3 (Synthi) cores. We also combined them with the famous 256-cell analog polysequencer.

Like the second, huge contact matrix and its numerous additional modules: envelopes, low-frequency oscillators, S&H, voltage processor, pitch tracker, transients, etc. Or the recreation of a unique, powerful 256-channel analog polysequencer, tightly coupled with the synthesis engines. Add to this an analog chorus (3 modes), a phaser, and a spring reverb, and the picture becomes clear.

In XILS 4, you can connect everything to everything, giving you over 1,140 different connections per patch. We already mentioned this on Audio Rate. An endless source of inspiration for those looking to delve into the essence of analog modular synthesis.

• 12 non-aliasing oscillators grouped in 6 pairs with WaveShaping, 3*2 hard sync modes, + 2 additional noise oscillators.
• 2 analog multi-mode filters with non-linear behavior and zero latency, with 3 modes (12/18/24 dB).
