During the Addictive Trigger research phase, users worldwide reported that accurate hit detection is crucial when using drum replacement plugins. Unfortunately, existing triggering technologies typically have flaws that require manual tuning and correction.

We strive to create products that are better than what’s currently available, and have developed a completely new method for drum hit detection called Audio Fingerprint. Our new system uses FFT analysis to accurately identify drum sounds, even if the source material contains a lot of microphone interference or background noise. It’s fast, accurate, and we think it will change the way we work with live drums.

What is an audio fingerprint?

Conventional drum replacement tools rely on rudimentary filtering and transient detection, which leads to numerous false triggers and missed clicks. Audio Fingerprint solves this problem with a new FFT-based matching system. It’s so accurate that it typically seamlessly recognizes faint, ghostly notes amidst background noise, while eliminating microphone dropouts and other unwanted sounds.

In addition to highly accurate low-level ghost note recognition, our audio fingerprint recognition system can also distinguish between different types of drum strokes played at the same speed (for example, side and open snare strokes). This allows Addictive Trigger to reproduce the correct sample articulations, even if the source material contains different types of drum strokes with identical peak levels.
