zplane – PPMulator3 XL v3.6.7 for WiN

Please note that support for PPMBATCH will be discontinued at the end of 2025, and the program itself will be available until March 31, 2026.A professional peak and loudness metering plugin that looks and feels very similar to the professional Peak Program Meter (PPM).

This plugin provides a finely tuned workspace for recording, editing, mixing and mastering. The plugin is available in two versions: PPMULATOR+ and PPMULATORXL. The latter version offers additional features, such as EBU R128 loudness level metering and batch processing of audio files.

Key Features

  • Customizable, resizable layouts , plus channel labeling
  • Batch audio file processing (PPMULATORXL only)
  • Automatic peak logging, with loudness data export
  • Mono gain control, to M3 (-3 dB) or M6 (-6 dB) standards
  • Phase correlation meter and goniometer
  • Reference tone generator, for aligning and calibrating measuring instruments
  • Multi-channel support, up to six channels – Mono, Stereo, Mid/Side, 5.1 – 32-192 kHz sample rate

Peculiarities

Channel Configuration: Ensure that the channel configuration in the Audio tab of the Settings is set correctly. To confirm that you have selected the correct configuration, you can switch to the Multichannel/Surround Peak Meter and inspect the plug-in’s input. Also, ensure that the Signal Level parameter is set to the default value.

Routing: Ensure that you are actually monitoring the output signal (after the master channel).

Operation: To obtain accurate and meaningful loudness metering results, the audio file must be played back completely, without interruptions or jumps.

Verification: To verify the plug-in’s results, mix down your project and use the batch metering feature (PPMULATORXL only) to measure the mixed file. If the result differs from the plug-in’s results, verify the configuration as described above.

A good test signal is a 1 kHz stereo signal with a target reference level (-18 or -20 dB FS for peak measurements, -23 dB FS for loudness measurements). Such files can be created using PPMULATOR in the “Calibration” tab of the settings dialog. The measured result should match the expected value, which is also displayed in the “Calibration” tab. For a signal with a frequency of -18 dB FS, the result should be 4 parts per million on the BBC scale.
