Scale lock

Carbon Electra was designed with harmony and musicality in mind. With scale lock enabled and a scale selected, your patch now responds more musically, and oscillators and filters can be tailored to your needs. Use Filter 2’s cutoff to emphasize scale notes for greater musical effect, and create oscillator sets that move in time with your music. Your scale also affects the note and chord information in the sequencer.

Wave Terrain Oscillators

What’s next for wavetables? Carbon Electra’s Wavetrain Synthesis system calculates a three-dimensional surface across which a two-dimensional harmonic curve moves and modulates. The resulting oscillator shape changes, becoming more dynamic and musically connected. Classic wavetables and basic analog waveforms are also available, and the oscillators support FM, hard sync, and unison.

Key-based sequencing

The Carbon Electra 2 sequencer recognizes your current key and helps you intuitively create musical patterns. Built from the same material as the Scaler, it lets you work in chord mode, finding meaningful chords that fit your key, as well as inversions and parallel substitutions. All this, in addition to the usual sequencer parameters, such as span and playback direction, with presets for instant playback.

Locking the Music Filter Scale

Enable Keytrack and Scale Lock to create a resonant set of bandpass filters that will harmonize with your track. Arrange the filters by scale, chord, or interval, then adjust the movement using the resonance, density, focus, and window controls. Filter 2 is the Carbon Electra 2’s musical filter, while Filter 1 offers traditional filter types, vowel-shaping filters, and a dedicated volume control.

Modulation

Three LFOs and two envelopes are available for controlling synthesis and built-in effect parameters, and the LFOs can self-modulate or be routed to each other. A dedicated sequencer modulation lane can be routed to the same targets and offers a curve shape for each step, allowing for animated movements of oscillators or other parameters. Modulation assignment is simple, with drag-and-drop functionality.

Five built-in effects

Built-in delay, distortion, chorus, EQ, and reverb add depth and personality to your sound. Choose from one of Carbon Electra’s five effects slots, with no restrictions on using the same processor two or even five times. Drag the mouse cursor to rearrange the effects order to add finishing touches to your patch, and adjust effect parameters using the sequencer, LFOS, or envelopes.
