Overview of Ancient Greek Winds:

Description : Ancient Greek Winds is a collection of nine carefully selected traditional Greek woodwind instruments that capture the essence of the classical Hellenistic period. This group of restored artifacts includes single- and double-reed aulos flutes from bass to viola, as well as shell horns, a brass salpinx horn, a pan flute, and a plagiaul.

Each instrument is fully playable, with sustains, staccato, true legato, dynamic expressions and effects tailored to its specific characteristics. Ancient Greek Brass is the perfect melodic addition to our Ancient Greek Strings and Ancient Greek Percussion libraries.

Each instrument was handcrafted using precise techniques, building materials and tools by the Athens-based historical research group LyrΑvlos, led by Panagiotis Stephos. Crafted from wood, reeds, shells and bronze, these musical treasures faithfully explore a distant musical past and would have been right at home in the hands of Bronze Age musicians over 2,500 years ago.
