GForce’s impOSCar3 is based on the design of the legendary British hardware synthesizer OSCar®. Like the original, its hybrid architecture combines the precision of digital oscillators and the warmth of analog filters, providing a wide range of sonic possibilities.

A finely tuned filter, compatible with the new wavetable editor, combines supreme digital clarity with unprecedented analog richness. Unique filters and new custom wavetables

A unique dual filter lies at the heart of impOSCar3, providing its unforgettable character and quality. Various low-pass, high-pass, and mid-pass filter configurations in 2-pole or 4-pole configurations, as well as various parallel configurations, pave the way to formant-like textures, phasing, and resonant effects that enhance tonal control and expand sonic possibilities.

The signature new wavetable generator (containing over 150 presets) and the new custom LFO open up vast possibilities for tonal effects and modulation. Create and save your own custom wavetables or draw partial wavetables in an additive style.

Switching wavetables is a simple yet effective way to get new tones in a selected patch while maintaining the core characteristics of the original sound.

What’s new?

impOSCar3 now features fully editable 256-step wavetables, which can be drawn as shapes or edited as partials.

We’ve added over 450 new factory patches and our powerful browser to simplify navigation through the vast number of built-in patches—over 1,800 in total.

Additionally, we’ve added four new macros, a new reverb, improved layout, a user-configurable LFO editor, aftertouch control, undo/redo, a fully scalable user interface, and much more. Finally, we’ve simplified the instrument’s usability while maintaining all its features and compatibility with legacy impOSCar2 patches.

A pioneering hybrid synthesizer with a rich heritage of innovation

The instrument that inspired the impOSCar3 was developed in the UK in the early 1980s. It was renowned for its groundbreaking integration of digital and analog technologies within a synthesizer. Equipped with digital oscillators, it could generate standard analog signals and up to 24 unique user-defined digital signals, providing an exceptionally broad sonic palette.

It also featured a dual filter—both high-pass and low-pass—that could operate simultaneously for more complex sound processing. Its iconic yellow membrane panel set it apart from others and emphasized its unique design. Only 2,000 units were produced.

impOSCar3 carefully preserves this unique classic, significantly expanding its capabilities.

A deep and unique playground

impOSCar3 is a treasure trove of inspiration and a unique platform for sound design. We invited a number of professional sound engineers and artists to develop the patches, exploring the vast sonic capabilities of impOSCar3.

Among them: Jogging House, Sandunes, Nadia Struiwigh, PKH, The Unfinished, Jordan Passmore, GEOsynths, Christian Laffitte, Richard Veenstra and Ramon Kerstens (K/V), Polydata, Patricia Wolf, Zardonic, Plughugger, Reverb Machine, Tom Hall, Boudicca’s Bass Service, Dave Spiers, and more.

Together they have created over 450 new patches in addition to the existing 1,350+ old patches, some of which were developed by legends such as Billy Currie (Ultravox), Darren Price and Rick Smith (Underworld), and Paul Wiffen (original sound engineer and OSCar programmer for Stevie Wonder and Jean Michel Jarre).
