Overview of HWMC:

The HWMC Howie Weinberg mastering console was created by Acustica Audio and Studio DMI in collaboration with Howie Weinberg. The mastering engineer has over 200 platinum and gold records, 15 Grammy Awards, 31 Grammy Award nominations, 19,000 album credits, and 25 billion streams to his credit.

Features of HWMC:

The console incorporates several distinctive features:

  • C: Coral-style mastering tube compressor with 4 different switchable compressor modes depending on the selected rectifier circuit emulation (GERM, GERM2, SILIC or LED).
  • E: Scarlet-style parametric stereo mastering EQ with LF/MF and HF/MF bands with ±9 dB gain.
  • F: High and low shelving filters and continuously variable high (20 Hz – 20 kHz) and low (20 Hz – 30 kHz) mastering cut filters with a slope of 12 dB per octave, made to Weinberg’s exact specifications.
  • L: Ultra-transparent algorithmic limiter with oversampling buttons (1x, 4x and 8x).
  • ADC: Clipping stage including 3 different models from least to most aggressive (C1, C2, C3), created by sampling various analog-to-digital converters by Howie Weinberg. Controlled using the clipper knob and resampling buttons (1x, 4x, 8x).
  • DAC: A preamp stage that includes 3 modes from a selection of different digital-to-analog converters (DCS, Mytek, Mytek+Tape), effectively reproducing Weinberg’s signature sound.
  • Additional Controls: Include control link, M/S – LR, HQ, dimming buttons, a full meter section, and various routing buttons/functions that allow internal routing adjustments.
