FutureVerb was designed from the ground up to deliver the most transparent and realistic reverb we’ve ever created. Eight years of R&D went into creating new, innovative algorithmic reverb topologies. FutureVerb’s reverb modes are as close to perfect as we can get.
And because we don’t believe in perfection, we’ve added a colorful and powerful Echo sectional that can add color and warmth or leave it as clean as you want the space to be.
With 8 original reverb modes and 12 flexible echo modes, FutureVerb gives you the sonic power you need to create your own future.
Echo Mode
The ECHO MODE control in Valhalla FutureVerb is a high-level control that lets you switch between different echo and delay options. Click the ECHO MODE control in the lower left corner to select the active algorithm. Selecting a new ECHO MODE may change the controls displayed on the screen. The GUI will only display the parameters that are active in the selected ECHO MODE.
Echo modes can be used to take the transparent and realistic reverb modes in FutureVerb™ and expand their capabilities into more colorful, dirty, and surreal directions. Use echo modes as pre-delays, switch the Echo->Reverb routing to use echo as a post-processing reverb, or create sparse and distinctive reverbs solely using echo modes by increasing the Spread and Feedback parameters.
Reverb Mode
The reverb mode knob in Valhalla FutureVerb™ cycles through eight unique reverb algorithms. FutureVerb’s reverbs were designed to provide maximum transparency and realism, without the color casts traditionally associated with algorithmic reverbs. The modes are sorted by size: the first five algorithms are designed for realistic acoustic spaces, while the last three are designed for larger spaces and dense, nonlinear reverbs.
All FutureVerb algorithms were designed to sound good without modulation. However, these are still the most heavily modulated VALHALLA reverbs we’ve ever produced.
Color
The COLOR mode is used to switch between multiple EQ profiles and high-frequency attenuation. This high-level control allows you to quickly change the overall tone of the reverb and echo. Use the BRIGHT or NEUTRAL modes to emphasize the reverb in your mix, or the DARK or STUDIO modes to let the reverb add cohesion to your mix without drawing attention to itself.
In COLOR mode the colors of the graphical interface also change, because that’s how we work.
